Summer Circles – Playful Patterns of Proximity with Kaleid this summer

Join Kaleid this summer for three FREE opportunities to engage in “playful patterns of proximity!” These single-meeting Kaleid circles are a chance to have fun and to connect with and learn from the Asian-American community.

WATCH: On Wednesday evening, June 9th, we will meet at 7:00 pm for popcorn and a movie night, where we will watch The Farewell and have a short debrief afterward.

EAT: On Friday evening, June 18th at 6:00, we will meet in groups of 4-6 to eat dinner at a few restaurants in the Buford Highway corridor and then connect for conversation at the end of the evening in a larger group over bubble tea.

WALK: On Saturday morning, June 26th, we will meet from 8:00 – 10:30 am for a Contemplative Hike at Hahn Woods at Lullwater, where we will engage in a time of guided silence, prayer, and reflection based in Ancient Chinese Christian liturgy.

Why would you want to come?

Well, partly just for fun. It’s time to get out and enjoy some of the things our city offers, together! We love knowing you over email and on zoom, but we really, really love getting to be together, breaking bread and taking in the world and its beauty.

Also, because we like to practice new things together. Atlanta has a thriving Asian-American culture. When we look for God’s kingdom coming “on earth as it is in heaven,” we also lean into the call to love our neighbors well. Loving our neighbors means establishing patterns of proximity whereby we can be more culturally familiar and relationally connected, so that we can see through new lenses and love better.

Do your life rhythms help you see yourself, others, and our city through new lenses by taking you to places beyond your “norm?” Would you like to build different patterns of proximity into your daily routines of fun, food, and exercise?

These brief summer Kaleid circles are designed to invite you to do what you do in life, but to choose to do them in a (perhaps) different context. By displacing ourselves a bit, we can practice “doing life” on purpose, seeing the city and seeing others more intentionally. We hope you’ll join us this summer as we Watch, Eat, and Watch with an eye toward the Asian-American experience.
